Q: Why is this on a school night?

We're hosting this event on a Wednesday night since we know many DJs are working Friday and Saturday nights and wanted to make this open to as many as possible. We can provide fake notes for being late to work the next day as needed!

Q: Parking and Transportation to Wasted Grain?

There are plenty of ways to arrive Of course we always recommend Rideshare or designated drivers as the best way to arrive and get home after the event If you are driving, there is street parking around the venue, but also there is a lot about 3 blocks east on Stetson If at any point you need help getting home or get stuck, please let us know at the event so we can help you out

Q: Where is Wasted Grain?

Wasted Grain is located in old town Scottsdale at 7295 E Stetson Dr , in Scottsdale about 2 blocks east of Scottsdale Blvd near the Entertainment District. There is street parking around the entire neighborhood, and a parking lot just 3 blocks east of the building on Stetson.

Q: How will you pick the winner?

We will have a panel of judges who will be scoring across several categories including: Presence Music selection Originality Technical skill Crowd engagement The audience will also get a chance to vote on their favorites by scanning the QR code on their wristbands and around the event that will take them to an area to place their votes. Once the voting period timer is up, the winners will be calculated automatically and we will announce the winners after a short break following the last set.

Q: How does the competition work?

We select the best 5 DJs that entered the competition based on set submitted Those 5 DJs will perform 30 minute sets back to back, including the ability to mix in from the previous DJ's (challenging) loop of their choice with a panel of judges scoring performances The audience will also be able to vote as well through a visible QR code website At the end of the sets, we'll determine the winner based on score and have a quick ceremony The winning DJ will do the closing set for the evening

Q: Will there be a VIP experience?

There will be a limited number of VIP tickets that will sell for $125 per person and will include: Private VIP reception from 8p to 9p in the brand new Old Town Ski Lodge attached to Wasted Grain 1 free drink Meet and greet with judges and contestants VIP seating area for the main event Sponsor Swag Bag

Q: How much will tickets cost?

Our GA tickets will be $25 per person for the event from 9p to 12.30p The VIP experience will be $125 from 8p to 9p and will include a GA ticket

Q: Will equipment be provided for the competitors?

We will provide: A CDJ 2000/Nexus mixer system will be available, let us know about extra equipment in submission form Microphone Speaker System Lighting DJ's will bring Headphones USB stick -or- Laptop that is already setup to work with a CDJ system

Q: What do you mean by house music?

House music is a broad genre of electronic dance music that has many sub-genres, such as deep house, techno, and funky house. In the SWITCH DJ competition, contestants are free to choose any music within the house music genre that they love the most, regardless of the specific sub-genre. This means that contestants can showcase their unique style and preferences within the broader house music genre.
